Oracle10g Grid Computing
Chapter 17 -
Oracle’s Grid Integration Technologies
Data Dictionary Views
following SQL script provides a list of data dictionary views used to
monitor the Scheduler’s activities:
SQL> select table_name, comments
2 from dict
3 where table_name like 'DBA%SCHEDULER%'
4 order by table_name;
In a Grid
Environment, different sets of user applications access a variety of
the databases, sometimes located locally and sometimes situated at a
remote location. Instead of going for remote database access,
processing of the same data at a locally situated database server
makes much more sense in terms of logistics and performance. Instead
of accessing or sharing a remote database, maintenance of a local data
copy becomes more desirable. Oracle Streams helps to replicate or to
duplicate the databases to different locations.
Streams provides a comprehensive and integrated framework for data and
information sharing. It combines the replication of data, messaging
queues, event management, data loading and notification mechanism into
one integrated product and methodology. Oracle Streams helps in
setting up and synchronizing multiple data sources within the grid
environment very efficiently. The data movements can be real time or
scheduled as needed. The changes are captured by way of redo log hot
mining and then are propagated to the destination database. Oracle
Streams is a key component in creating and maintaining multiple data
sources with in the grid.
