Oracle 10g Improved Network Outage Detection
sqlnet.send_timeout – This parameter is
used to limit the time, in seconds, for a database server to
complete a send operation to clients after a connection is
sqlnet.send_timeout is used for environments in
which clients occasionally shut down either abnormally or
deliberately. When this parameter is set and the database server is
unable to complete a send operation in the time specified, it will
log the following errors in the sqlnet.log file:
When this parameter is not present, the
database server will continue to send responses to clients that are
unable to receive data due to a shutdown computer or a busy state.
