Oracle 10g Improved Network Outage Detection
sqlnet.recv_timeout – This parameter is
used to limit the time, specified in seconds, for a database server
to wait for client data after a connection is established. When this
parameter is set, a client must send some data within the specified
time interval. This parameter should be used in environments in
which clients shut down on occasion, either deliberately or
abnormally. When this parameter is set, if a client does not send
any data in the time specified, the database server will log the
following erors in the sqlnet.log file:
If this parameter is not set, the database
server will continue to wait for data from clients that may be shut
down or are experiencing network or other difficulties.
