Oracle 10g Migration from Advanced Replication
To migrate the advanced replication methodology
to the streams based replication, Oracle has provided help with a
conversion tool. You can use the dbms_repcat.streams_migration
procedure for this.
This procedure takes a list of replication
groups to migrate and generates SQL script in a user-specified file.
This script is then run at each master site to configure the Streams
environment. The given replication groups must contain exactly the
same masters. The script contains comments indicating what cannot be
converted from Advanced Replication to Streams, and includes
suggestions on how the script can be modified to handle the
situation. Users can customize the generated script as needed.
Here is an example to show how the script is
groups(1) := 'SALES';
groups(2) := 'RESEARCH';
groups (3) := 'PURCHASE';
GNAMES => groups,
FILE_LOCATION => 'SCRIPT_DIR',
FILENAME => 'str_migrate.sql');
The script_dir should be pre-created with the
Create Directory command.
