last redo log could be added to the standby database, and the database could be started in just a few minutes.

Note: Oracle standby servers need to be fully licensed if they are “hot standby” servers that can be used for queries.  Cold standby servers used less than 10 days per year do not need to be licensed.

Conclusion

The point of this chapter is that the SGA must be properly designed and that the SGA can change dramatically as the system is implemented.  Hence, you must constantly monitor and change the Oracle instance to optimize it accord to your current demands.
