Materialized Views using OEM
Log on to the remote database as the SYSTEM user; the user SCOTT does
not have enough privileges to use with OEM. Select schema, then SCOTT.
If user SCOTT does not contain any objects, he will not be listed under
schemas. In that case, use the SYSTEM schema. Right click and hold on
SCOTT (or SYSTEM) and select create. A window will open listing all the

Select Materialized View and press the Create button at the bottom.
The create materialized view window will open. If the session began
in SYSTEM, ensure that the schema is changed to SCOTT. Provide the
name (in this case EMP) and ensure the correct tablespace is
selected. Clear the query rewrite checkbox and enter the
materialized view query in the text box provided: “select * from

Now select the REFRESH tab. Check the Populate Immediately box.
Select the refresh method that defaults to FORCED. Drop down to the
Refresh Interval. Select “automatically”, the sysdate is shown and
then the interval. Select 3 minutes in the text box.
