Creating Oracle Materialized Views using OEM

Log on to the remote database as the SYSTEM user; the user SCOTT does not have enough privileges to use with OEM.  Select schema, then SCOTT.  If user SCOTT does not contain any objects, he will not be listed under schemas.  In that case, use the SYSTEM schema.  Right click and hold on SCOTT (or SYSTEM) and select create.  A window will open listing all the creation options.

Select Materialized View and press the Create button at the bottom.  The create materialized view window will open.  If the session began in SYSTEM, ensure that the schema is changed to SCOTT.  Provide the Materialized View name (in this case EMP) and ensure the correct tablespace is selected.  Clear the query rewrite checkbox and enter the materialized view query in the text box provided: “select * from scott.emp@navdb.world”.

Now select the REFRESH tab.  Check the Populate Immediately box. Select the refresh method that defaults to FORCED. Drop down to the Refresh Interval.  Select “automatically”, the sysdate is shown and then the interval.  Select 3 minutes in the text box.
